Meet your host

Hi, I’m Duwie – the founder and maker behind Dewy Monday.

I've spent the past six years making skincare by hand, and soapmaking has become one of my favorite ways to bring together everything I love about the process: thoughtful ingredients, a little chemistry, and the freedom to play.

It's a magical feeling to be able to transform a handful of oils into something so beautiful and useful. In my workshops, I share the techniques I've learned through years of making soap for Dewy Monday, but leave plenty of room for you to experiment and make something that feels like your own.

Whether you're here to learn a new skill or just spend an afternoon doing something creative, I'm so happy to share this little corner of my world with you.

" Duwie is an amazing teacher!!! I learned so much in her class. Found a love for soapmaking through her. She was thorough and incredibly knowledgeable. She made it easy and fun. Her enthusiasm was infectious!"

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any soapmaking experience?
Not at all! This workshop is designed with beginners in mind. We'll walk through the process together, from understanding your ingredients to mixing, coloring, and pouring your soap.

What kind of soap will we make?
You'll learn traditional cold process soapmaking using plant-based oils and sodium hydroxide (lye). You'll get to customize your loaf with your choice of fragrance and essential oils, natural colorants and micas, and a selection of skin-nutritive additives.

How much soap will I take home?
You'll make one 20 oz loaf of soap, which yields approximately 4 full-sized bars once cut. Because cold process soap needs time to cure, your soap won't be ready to use immediately. They'll be shipped to you after 2 weeks.

How long does the workshop take?
Our soapmaking workshops typically run about 2 hours.

When can I use my soap?
Cold process soap needs approximately 4–6 weeks to cure before use.

Is soapmaking safe for beginners?
Yes, with proper precautions. Cold process soapmaking involves working with sodium hydroxide (lye), which is caustic and requires careful handling. We'll go over safety procedures, provide appropriate protective equipment, and guide you through each step.

Can I book a private soapmaking workshop?
Absolutely! Private sessions may be available for individuals and small groups up to 10. Email info@dewymonday.com to inquire about availability.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little messy (we have aprons!) along with closed-toe shoes. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended. We'll provide the necessary protective gear.

What if I have allergies or ingredient sensitivities?
Please let us know before your workshop if you have any known allergies or sensitivities. We work with various plant-based oils, fragrances, essential oils, and botanicals, and cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
